Anyone else tried this? randomly came across it the other day.

Still figuring it out but from what i can tell its a half strategy half fps ww2 game, with a persistent war fought for weeks in 1000's of small battles, i think a bit like ww2online.
It's a tad ugly but is somewhat slower paced than other games out there and has some cool features, like looking at the map is somewhat similar to alpha RnL.

Anyway it is free to play, http://www.heroesandgenerals.com/ curious to see what its like when progress is made, as there are aircraft, tanks etc. Seen many a man blown up in a cap zone by a dive bombing P38!

Took video of my 2nd ever match, gives sort of an idea what its like, played on the same map later and it was in bright daylight with much further draw distance.

I think we should put extra effort into banning spam bots...

Impressions from the vid: Horrible sound, fake option menu, flying whoopie cushions???, random phone calls, epic bicycles, random trips to straya (car driving on the underside of the map...), more running than RO2, EPIC BICYCLES.

The best part was the bicycles.

hahaha sounds about right.
Its the overall war part of it that interests me, the map looks like this, with each point being a place for a battle.

I did some alfa testing a very long time ago. But 600+ping, alfa being alfa and it being browser based, I stopped trying.
I can see that it has changed loads in the last couple of years. That said RO is enough for me atm.

I see it's a 3D version of the many "grand war campaign with a billion little battles" online games.

Looks OK, but how they planning on ruining the game to make a dime?

I think it is a bit of a grind at the start to get your soldier some new shiznit, but of course, you can pay...

Yeah played this a bit a few months back, it holds a lot of promise but the enormous pings make it hard to enjoy atm. I like how soldiers can ride bicycles though, I was running through a field and heard a 'ding ding', turned and saw a pushy next to me. Hopped on and got dinked to the front, good times.

Yeah that's to be expected from the format i guess, but by the time this is comfortably playable I'll probably be sharing my time between RO2 and Star Citizen.
Still, it looks like it has promise.
