There is a new server side mutator that I can activate to remove some of the automatic soldier chatter.
 
Its not a game changer but something I will include on the Aussie / NZ server if enough people want it.

I say fire it up once it's whitelisted.  IMO battle chatter isn't a big enough issue to warrant unranking the server.

I actually like the voices. I find they add to the atmosphere.
 
Shame you can't turn them off client side though.

It's less than awesome though when your soldier spontaneously yells out and gives his position away, which gets you instantly killed.  Happened more times than I care to remember :/

I can't say that thought hasn't crossed my mind.
 
If they implement the toggle mute option I'd definitely give this a big "HELL YES!"

personally i really like it, the system is flawed (especially when you're trying to be ninja) but the banter i find really adds to the authenticity of the game. I can go either way on the matter from a more serious game point (not giving position away) to the point i addressed above.
Hold a vote to the frequenters of the server (obviously some peoples opinion will hold more sway than others) and make your final decision from there.

I don't mind the chatter. works both ways really - might give me away sometimes, but have been countless times it's let me know where the enemy was.

I am yet to have a look at the finer detail but I think it is reasonably customised so I be able to turn off the annoying more random comments but keeping the ones that are related to your game play.

I have put on a very basic set of Shut up commands.  They are what they call the idle voice commands.  They seem to be prompted by low or high levels of moral and not by what is going on around you.
 
Below is the full list of what can be muted.  If someone wants to go through it and work out what might be what and what might be good to add to my current small list of shut ups, I am happy to add.
